Chesham Under 13s played their first competitive match of the season last Sunday, away at Drifters in the Bucks Cup.
Unfortunately Chesham were a few players short but still managed to start well and counter the early pressure applied by Drifters. The whole team effort and solid defensive play, in particular good first halves for Matt Miles and Matt Kempster in the forwards, could not prevent four tries being scored by an organised opposition back row before the half-time whistle.
The second half was a more even match with Kieran Aroudj and Callum Wilson making solid tackles, helping Chesham to play much of the game in the Drifters half. Chesham were unlucky not to score, especially during the last play of the match when Toby Deane initiated a move following a scrum deep in the Drifters half.
The positive team spirit shown throughout the match made this a great game to watch and will also help the boys as they now progress into the Bucks Plate competition.
