Chesham 1st XV's fixture away to Beaconsfield 2nds on Saturday descended into farce when the referee pulled a hamstring and hobbled off injured in the first 10 minutes!
He was unable to continue and, as there was no other official RFU ref available, under league rules the game had to be abandoned.
The two teams did agree to play on as a friendly fixture with a Beaconsfield member refereeing and Chesham enjoyed the bulk of the play in the first half, leading 13-0 at the break.
To add to the circus, Beaconsfield then ran out of front row replacements and scrums went uncontested, robbing Chesham of their chief advantage and allowing the Beaconsfield backs into the game. Beaconsfield took full advantage and ran out 17-13 winners, a disappointing end to a farcical afternoon.
