Summer fun...

Even the poor weather could not dampen the spirits of those club members who showed up for the pre- season BBQ. The minis enjoyed the Bouncy castle and it is amazing what fun was had from the "jumbo tackle pads."

Well done to the club Social Secretary AJ and his helpers - food and cooking was organised by John McCarthy ably helped by son Francis. The grub was great lads and the beer was not bad either. Your efforts deserved better support from the Club's membership. 

 

CHESHAM RUGBY CLUB NEEDS YOU!

With posters and leaflets being distributed around Chesham, the Club's recruitment campaign has got off to a great start, with several new players turning out regularly at training and further new recruits anticipated when our mini and youth players return to action on Sunday 6th September.

However WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP!

How? Simples - by turning up at training on Tuesdays and Thursdays and supporting the efforts of Gary, Colin and Jobby who give up their time for your benefit.

Numbers have been disappointing - especially on Thursdays - and the lack of numbers hardly creates a good impression of the Club for new recruits.

So please help - recruits are hard find and easy to lose - let's show them Chesham Rugby Club at its best.

Please note that the Club BBQ will be on Sunday 30th August (and not Monday 31st as previously advertised).

Fun and frolics for all the family including a waterslide and "family games".

Food being served from approximately 3.30 pm (depending on whether it's cooked!)

Women's Recruiting

Chesham Town hall Staff are playing their part in the Women's recruiting campaign.
The club banner is proudly displayed for the next two weeks on the Town Hall balcony.
The club is grateful for their support.

New Women's Captain Appointed

The Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Kirsty Haig as captain of the Women's XV.

A popular choice of the women playing members, Kirsty has stressed that fun and enjoyment will be one of this seasons priorities.
 
Aged 27, Kirsty is Aylesbury based, and is employed as a gas engineer. She has been playing rugby for five years and her previous club was Tring. However most of her competitive playing experience has been  with Chesham and she is pleased to be leading the women's team into its 19th consecutive season.
 
Kirsty's preferred playing positions are back row or second row, but if previous seasons are anything to go on, you can expect to see Kirsty playing in any position - she just wants to play and regards herself as a Utility Player.
 
Kirsty is much involved in the club's current women's recruiting campaign and is determined that this season we will consolidate our postion in this league while we build for the future. 
 
She will be working closely with coaches Steve Moore and Don Marshall to ensure we have good turnout at training and help introduce players who are new to the sport of Rugby.
 
Morris

Up and Running

Pre season training is underway. with Gary Szulc, Steve Moore and Colin Hogg introducing old and new members to some "Light" exercise. The seniors were joined by some of the club youth players. This season will see more of the club youth moving into senior rugby.

Training is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7.00pm at Chesham Park Community College.
Womens training is on Wednesday evenings, same time, same venue.

 

Golf Outing

The club are holding an 18-hole GOLF OUTING on 20th August at Chartridge Golf Club for members and guests.

Breakfast is planned for 8.30am. This will be  followed by 18 holes by the club's finest.   Awards presented during  a leisurely lunch.

Cost of this splendid day out is £35.  More information and bookings call AJ on 07772648809 or sign up in the clubhouse.

Mini & Youth Start Date

The Minis and Youth season gets underway on SUNDAY 6th SEPTEMBER at 10.00am at Chesham Community College.

The coaches can't wait to get started.

 

We have a full fixture list and exciting games planned.

Some information for Members plus Mums and Dads:

- Make sure you call at Registration to sign in for the new season;

- Check that our member contact information is correct;

- Always have some dry kit or change of clothes with you this season in case it is wet;

- Bring along some pals, boys or girls - we are still looking for new members;

- The club house and toilets will be open while play is in progress and after the games;

- Remember the main College car park is used by the Kings Church on Sunday mornings;

- We can park on Chartridge Lane or the Side Roads.

- We have been asked not to park on the grass in front of the College if possible;

- We are always looking for Adult volunteers to help with coaching and support activities. If you are interested speak to the coaches.

And remember - Have fun! You are a member of Bucks' Friendliest Club!
